Diabolization Continues

For the information of those who villified the people of Gush Qatif, cheered as their lives were destroyed, and jeered at these new 'millionaires,' Haaretz Reporter Nadav Shragai provides an insight into their ongoing suffering, as the State ignores them.

So, if Israel can't deal with 8,000 refugees...How does it expect to throw 80,000+ out of their homes with nowhere to go, no employment, no schools, and deep psychological scars?

the situation of the gushies is truly tragic.
they did nothing wrong, and got a raw deal from the state. the state can almost not pay them enough for the gross misjustice done the gushies.
the further injustices being dealt them is really unconcionable.

that being said, and risking blaming the victim, the gushies did not handle the situation well at all.
the disengagement was a fait accompli for a months, if not longer; why were no plans to leave made by the gushies (even with myobiter's idea of kimu eilu...)?
why were there children there to witness the leaving of homes? why are they afraid of =their own armed forces?= there is no reason why this had to happen.
why were they used, at least partially, as pawns in this to tug at emotional heartstrings (if this sounds like i am making a comparison to palestinian activities, i do not mean it and i apologize if you think so)? why did the parents not put the childrens needs first?

at some point we must look at the parents for the way they handled the horribly wrong position they were put in.

  2. It's very simple. The government knew full well that it didn't have an answer for all of the Jews they threw out of their homes - what was important was throwing them out, not dealing with their needs - and I do not see that changing, whether it was 8,000 or 80,000 - the bottom line is that the government (and the Left) want these Jews out - and if it means throwing them out on the street in the process, then so be it...

I object to the last comment. It is clearly not as simple as an us/them situation and certainly nobody is taking pleasure in seeing fellow Israelis suffer! Unfounded comments like that only serve to polarise, and justify and propogate hatred towards the government/the "Left" (whoever they are, these days) and above all are not in any way productive while we try to rebuild our country.

  4. I agree that the comment is a little extreme. Unfortunately, though, if you follow the comments made to descriptions of the plight of the evacuees from Gush Katif in the various newspapers, you'll see that there are many, many people who are pleased as punch to see them suffer.
