I will admit that I don't know very much about this group (though I do know a number of its members). However, if the very problematic musings of Haggai Efrati are any indication, I think I'll pass. Too much anger. Too much rage. Too many slogans. Too much pyrotechnics and no light or warmth.
Until they emancipate themselves from their frustrations, there won't be anything to discuss. It's too bad. We've got enough dialogues of the deaf cooking in this country, especially within the religious community (geselleschaft or gemeinschaft, that is the question). There really is no need for even one more.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know - Haggai Efrati is not a formal represntative of RRZ movement.
we await myobiters organization, as committed to in a few posts prior...
ReplyDeleteWho talked about an organization? I was thinking first about a website.
ReplyDeleteagain - this is just a form of "hitbollelut pnimit" - internal assimilation on a part of the religious zionist minority within the greater Israeli polity. It is not unexpected that part of oppressed minority would react this way.
ReplyDeleteModern Orthodoxy does NOT have to go down this route in order to remain modern AND orthodox.
I can understand why most of the people in that picture are there at that table. However, one has to wonder why someone like Rav Feurstein would have even bothered to sit at the table with the rest of those people - but then again, judging from recent statements he's made it seems he may be another one who has "thrown in the towel" and decided that only a policy of "self-reform" on the part of religious zionism will placate the masses and encourage acceptance - again a typical reaction of the "Jews" over the last 1,000 (if not longer) years of exile.
i was under the impression that after the dati light episode you wanted something more substantial than a website -- hence the call for adherents.
ReplyDeleteYou know, you're right. I have been developing some serious initiatives that I'll be pitching soon. Stay posted.
