This reminds me of the piece by the late, lamented Ephraim Kishon in which he describes what would have happened had Israel not attacked Egypt at the start of the '67 war. In his version, Israel would have been wiped out and the UN would have had endless ceremonies and memorials (inc the Arabs) of the 'courageous but doomed' little country that lasted for 19 years.
