How about the halachic notion that when a wealthy person becomes poor, we would ideally support them more in a manner like their former style? This recognizes that people take a big psychological hit when they become poor; and it is part of the hesed to try and address that, too.
Of course, were they to learn the lesson in the video and internalize it; then they wouldn't suffer quite so much and the same compensation/consideration wouldn't be needed.
